چکیده

Background Clinical and experimental observations of preand afterload independent indices of impaired cardiac contractile performance and hemodynamic dysfunction are limited by the poor true temporal resolution of cine MRI. We aimed to develop and optimize for the first time an imaging and reconstruction protocol for MRI real time measurement of cardiac pressure-volume relations and to compare the results with cine-bSSFP.

A System for Continuous Estimating and Monitoring Cardiac Output via Arterial Waveform Analysis

Background: Cardiac output (CO) is the total volume of blood pumped by the heart per minute and is a function of heart rate and stroke volume. CO is one of the most important parameters for monitoring cardiac function, estimating global oxygen delivery and understanding the causes of high blood pressure. Hence, measuring CO has always been a matter of interest to researchers and clinicians. Sev...

Comparison of the effect of pressure support ventilation and volume assured pressure support ventilation on weaning patients off mechanical ventilation after cardiac surgery

Background: Weaning from mechanical ventilation in the intensive care unit is an important step in the treatment process. More patients in less than 6 hours after cardiac surgery can be separated from mechanical ventilation and extubated. However, 20-40% of patients after cardiac surgery, due to dysfunctional ventilator weaning response (DVWR), still remain under mechanical ventilation. Therefo...

Continuous adaptive radial sampling of k-space from real-time physiologic feedback in MRI

Background Clinical cardiac CINE MRI takes advantage of the periodic nature of heart motion to combine data from multiple heartbeats to improve image quality. For a number of cardiac MRI applications, including stress testing, arrhythmias, and measurement of pressure-volume relationships, there can be significant aperiodicity, leading to motion artifacts or contrast variation due to inconsisten...

Instantaneous measurement of left and right ventricular stroke volume and pressure-volume relationships with an impedance catheter.

The feasibility of using continuous on-line recording of intraventricular electrical impedance to measure ventricular stroke volume was assessed in 12 patients at cardiac catheterization with a multielectrode impedance catheter and a 1.3 kHz measuring current of 4 microA. Stroke volumes determined by electrical impedance were compared with stroke volumes determined by the thermodilution techniq...

Passive leg raising test with minimally invasive monitoring: the way forward for guiding septic shock resuscitation?

BACKGROUND Swift and adequate fluid loading is a cornerstone of septic shock therapy. Yet, careful assessment of volume responsiveness and volume amount during the resuscitation process is a prerequisite. Both overzealous initial fluid administration and late fluid overload are harmful and may be associated with increased mortality. MAIN BODY Static (i.e., central venous or pulmonary artery o...
